How to advertise a chef or restaurant job in Malta

List restaurant roles with clear cuisine, kitchen section, food-safety training and working hours.

A restaurant advert should distinguish a chef role from front-of-house work and explain the service a candidate will join. The kitchen section, menu style and shift arrangement matter more than broad claims about a fast-paced team. Use a focused role and practical working details for your Malta vacancy.

1. Choose the job category and relevant traits

Choose Jobs → Hospitality → Restaurants. Job role includes Chef, Sous chef, Commis chef, Kitchen porter, Waiter, Barista, Restaurant manager and Pastry chef. Cuisine includes Maltese, Mediterranean, Italian, Asian and other available choices. Kitchen section can identify Hot kitchen, Pastry, Cold kitchen, Pizza or Front of house. Food safety offers Required, Provided and Not required; select the option that accurately describes the offer and applicable duties, not a shortcut around obligations.

2. Describe the actual role and working conditions

For example, “Commis chef — Mediterranean kitchen in Sliema” gives candidates a useful starting point. Explain preparation, service and cleaning responsibilities, the reporting line and any experience needed. State split shifts, evenings and weekends where applicable. If the role is for a waiter, describe guest service and order handling instead of copying a chef job description.

3. Make the salary and application route clear

Keep base pay separate from tips, commission or other variable amounts. Explain what the advertised period covers and whether meals or other benefits are provided. Do not imply a guaranteed total derived from uncertain tips. Describe any assessment or interview expectations openly and keep the application link specific to the vacancy.

In the job form, enter Salary from and, if useful, the optional maximum amount. Check Salary period: it defaults to Per year, so change it if you mean an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly amount. Choose the salary currency and Gross / net consistently with the offer. Required languages and Contract arrangement describe the vacancy; they do not run an automated candidate-scoring process. Complete required fields and use Detailed information for optional traits.

4. Review and publish the vacancy

  • Match the job role to kitchen or front-of-house duties.

  • Choose the actual cuisine and kitchen section.

  • Explain shifts, split shifts and weekend work.

  • Describe training and any food-safety requirements accurately.

What if the role combines kitchen and service duties?

Explain the combined responsibilities and expected balance in the description. Choose the closest primary job role and relevant traits. A candidate should be able to understand the work before applying, rather than discovering a different position during the interview.
